Albion Capital managing partner, Will Fraser-Allen, recently shared insights with Money Marketing.
He mentioned that about half of the funds raised for Albion’s VCTs come from advised clients, while the remaining half is split between investors acting independently and those investing via brokers.
Albion also runs several adviser-only webinars throughout the year.
Fraser-Allen highlighted that the companies within Albion’s VCT portfolio are often businesses that make a positive impact. Notable holdings include Oviva, a digital healthcare company focused on obesity, and Proveca, a pharmaceutical firm developing medicines specifically for children.
Previously, Fraser-Allen served as chair of the Venture Capital Trust Association (VCTA), where he advocated for extending the VCT sunset clauses.
In the Autumn Statement on 22 November 2023, then-Chancellor Jeremy Hunt announced an extension of the VCT and Enterprise Investment Scheme (EIS) sunset clauses to 2035. Fraser-Allen noted that one of the first actions Labour took upon gaining power was to approve this extension, adding that “VCTs fit in with their growth agenda.”
