The first course, launched earlier this month, is a one-hour introduction to greenwashing.
Greenwashing involves “misleading customers by selectively using information, exaggeration, or omission.”
Since May 31, 2024, all FCA-authorized firms must comply with the FCA’s anti-greenwashing rule.
This module aims to “build confidence and competence” for those responsible for conducting anti-greenwashing checks.
Founder Lee Coates told Money Marketing, “Last year’s focus was on delivering the Accord Initiative. We then realized we needed to expand on that.”
The Accord Initiative provides compliance, education, CPD, and regulatory analysis services, all accessible to advisers through a free website.
The academy will be free for all members of the Initiative.
ESG Accord is currently developing the full course.
This course will consist of ten half-hour modules that explore how SDR relates to the Consumer Duty, the broader regulatory environment, and the economics of ESG.
Each module will begin with a five-minute video, followed by “homework,” which includes practicing ESG-related conversations with colleagues or friends.
The course will be delivered through Moodle, an online education platform.
The complete course will provide five hours of CPD, accredited by LIBF.
