Private equity investment firm Growthdeck has shared its disappointment after the chancellor did not relax rules around the Enterprise Investment Scheme (EIS) in his Spring Statement.
Prior to the Spring Statement, Growthdeck called for the “sunset clause” to be scrapped.
The “sunset clause” means that the EIS needs to be reviewed and renewed in April 2025. This clause was requested by the European Union to review the assistance the UK government was providing to UK businesses under the scheme.
As the UK is now no longer bound by these EU requirements. Growthdeck hoped the government would confirm that EIS would be made permanent.
