With two founders from a financial services background, you might have thought that the fundraising process for we are radikl would be plain sailing. In fact, that wasn’t the case for Sarah King and Claire Dunn, co-founders of the Nottingham-based business that runs “accelerator” programmes for women entrepreneurs, helping female-owned start-ups to get off the ground.
They completed a seed funding round in January this year, only narrowly hitting the window to be eligible for the Seed Enterprise Investment Scheme, which was set up by the government in 2012 to fuel investment in start-ups by offering generous tax reliefs to investors.
