Sustainable investing forms part of client conversations for more than 90% of advisers, research has found, but just 33% have the right ESG tools in place to support rising levels of engagement.

Fidelity Adviser Solutions’ third IFA DNA report showed that nine out of ten advisers (92%) spoke with clients about sustainable investing, with varying levels of interest on ESG investment options.

It found that environmentally-focused (26%) and sustainability-focused (25%) solutions were the areas in which most advisers are experiencing client interest.

However, the research also found that despite rising interest only 30% of advisers had tools in place to help them report on sustainability investment portfolios. It added that advisers are keen to enhance their analysis, with 78% saying they would like the ability to compare sustainable and ESG funds. Some 77% said they would like the ability to find and filter these types of investment.
